Khali to continue working as cop in Punjab Police

Jalandhar, May 20 (UNI) World famous WWE wrestler Dalip Singh Rana, who is popularly known as The Great Khali in the ring, said he would continue working with Punjab Police in future also.

Talking to mediapersons here today, Mr Rana said,'' I have no intention of leaving the job of Punjab Police and because of this, I have reached upto this level.'' I would never resign or leave Punjab Police unless they threw me out, he joked.

The Great Khali was accorded a warm welcome on reaching PAP, the place of his work, from where he started his career in sports and had won many medals for Punjab Police and the State and in various competitions.

Mr Rana, who was overwhelmed by the reception accorded to him, said that he had never expected such a big welcome and was surprised to see everyone including senior officers and his colleagues waiting for him eagerly.

During the occasion, he was honoured by PAP ADGP Rajan Gupta and his mentor former DGP MS Bhullar with an Award of Excellece in Sports, which was due to him for long.

After spending nearly three years in various countries playing WWE championships, he said that he was feeling at home after coming to Punjab and PAP. Khalli, a Himachal Pradesh resident was brought to Punjab by Mr Bhullar and was recruited as Constable in Punjab Police in January 1993.

While welcoming the Great Khali, Mr Bhullar said,'' We have only provided him platform and where today he is, just because of his hard work.'' Before finally gaining name and fame in body building and wrestling, he had tried his hand in Basketball, discuss and hammer throws also but failed, Mr Bhullar informed.

ADGP Rajan Gupta, while speaking on the occasion, said that he would try his best for the promotion in rank of Dalip Singh, who is at present Assistant Sub Inspector of Police (ASI), when he would return in December this year after completion of his leave, which could be further extended on his demand.

The WWE wrestler is also trying in luck in movies, he said that at present he was working in two Hindi movies and on Hollywood movie and one of his Bollywood movie would be released shortly.
