Money in the Bank 2023: Updated WWE PLE Match Card after new announcements

Bengaluru, June 27: The longest-reigning mid-card champion in WWE's 21st-century history will go through his next title defense at the Money in the Bank 2023 WWE Network Specials, set for this weekend in the United Kingdom.

As announced on this week's episode of Raw, GUNTHER will put his Intercontinental Championship on the line against Matt Riddle at Money in the Bank, this Saturday night. This is the seventh overall match confirmed for the event.

Since returning to Monday Night Raw, earlier this year, Matt Riddle has proven to be a thorn for GUNTHER and his Imperium buddies. On Raw, Riddle appeared in a backstage segment and challenged GUNTHER to a title match.

Later on the show, GUNTHER's allies Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser pounced on Riddle for another vicious attack. GUNTHER also joined them and stomped on Riddle's knee before accepting the title match challenge.

Thus, Riddle will be looking for a singles championship gold for the first time since February 2021, when he defeated Bobby Lashley and John Morrison in a Triple Threat Match for the United States Championship.

As for GUNTHER, he enters Saturday's Money in the Bank as the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion of the 21st century. It was in last year's June that he captured the title from the former champion Ricochet.

GUNTHER held the title for over a year now and his most recent successful title defense came last month against Mustafa Ali at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia in a match that barely lasted for ten minutes.

Previously, GUNTHER retained his title against the likes of Shinsuke Nakamura and Braun Strowman. Besides, a top feud on Smackdown with Sheamus was also in-store over the title, last September at Clash at the Castle.

Money in the Bank will also have top attraction Ronda Rousey on the card as she and Shayna Baszler will defend their Undisputed WWE Women's Tag Team Titles against the team of Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez.

On this past edition of SmackDown, WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler defeated NXT Women's Tag Team Champions Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn to become the Undisputed Women's Tag Team Champions.

After the match, Liv returned from an injury and backed up her tag team partner Raquel in a face-off against Ronda and Shayna. The title match was then confirmed to happen on the latest Smackdown LowDown episode on YouTube.
