‘Mr. I’m Filming Matchbox’ - CM Punk Takes Swipe at John Cena’s Route to Elimination Chamber

Sometimes, the road to success is a little... unconventional. CM Punk has never been one to hold his tongue, and he’s at it again, taking aim at John Cena’s sudden declaration to enter the Elimination Chamber match. While Cena might think he’s earned a free pass into the chamber due to his status, Punk isn’t buying it.

With his signature sharp tongue and an already bitter rivalry between the two, Punk’s latest comments reveal that he's ready to go above and beyond to settle the score—whether Cena is filming movies in Budapest or not.

The Elimination Chamber Drama: John Cena’s Shortcut?

If you’ve been following WWE recently, you know that Cena’s just declared he’ll be part of the Elimination Chamber match. But it’s not just a simple announcement—CM Punk’s frustration is building. He’s throwing shade, pointing out that Cena is essentially getting a “buy” for the match while he, Punk, has to earn his spot. It’s like Cena’s gotten a free pass into the VIP section of wrestling, and Punk’s had enough of it.

On the Good Guy/Bad Guy podcast, Punk shared:

"I’m looking at the Chamber now like, 'Oh Cena’s got a buy? Cena just gets to be in it?’ Okay, Mr. I’m filming 'Matchbox’ in Budapest. I’m gonna just disappear, and then I just get a gift?"

Punk's frustration isn't only about Cena’s movie commitments in Budapest, but the fact that Cena’s legacy might be making it easier for him to waltz into the Elimination Chamber. Punk, on the other hand, is out here earning his shot. And let’s be real—Punk isn’t just in it for the title; he’s got bigger fish to fry. As he put it,

"I want to qualify for the Chamber so I can slap the sht out of John Cena."

It’s personal.

Cena's Hollywood Detour: A Bumpy Road Ahead?

While Punk is fuming, Cena is off shooting for Matchbox, Mattel’s latest live-action film inspired by their iconic vehicle toy line. The movie, directed by Sam Hargrave, is creating a buzz for all the right reasons. Cena’s role in Matchbox adds star power to an already promising project, which could potentially follow the runaway success of Barbie and set the stage for Masters of the Universe in 2026.

But while Cena’s busy playing with toy cars on set, Punk is not impressed by what he sees as a quick detour from wrestling greatness. He’s convinced that Cena’s current Hollywood commitments make him look like he’s coasting while others are still grinding it out in the ring. Cena, it seems, might have the best of both worlds, while Punk is stuck in the trenches, proving himself in every match.

Punk Earns His Shot: The Ultimate Payback?

After Cena’s casual declaration, Punk’s actions spoke louder than words. On February 3rd, during an Elimination Chamber qualifying match on WWE RAW, Punk stepped up to the plate and proved why he deserves his shot—by defeating Sami Zayn. Punk earned his chance to compete in the Elimination Chamber match, all while keeping his eyes squarely on Cena and what he sees as a stolen opportunity.

"That might be my last opportunity to do so," Punk said, alluding to his determination to settle the score at WrestleMania, and no, he’s not putting that plan on the back burner. With Cena already in the Chamber, Punk's out to prove he’s earned every bit of his spot.

Cena’s Legacy Meets Punk’s Fire

As Cena gears up for the Hollywood ride of his life, Punk is out here plotting his own storyline—one that could make the Elimination Chamber one of the most unforgettable moments of this wrestling era. The question now is: can Cena juggle both his Hollywood career and his wrestling legacy? Or will Punk prove that, even in Cena’s shadow, he still has what it takes to claim his place in WWE history?
