Netflix To Handle WWE’s International Transition; Update On Documentary Series

WWE's flagship program, Monday Night Raw moving to Netflix in early 2025 has created a significant buzz around the professional wrestling circuit. From WWE programme's international broadcast standpoint, major changes are incoming, per the latest updates.

WWE's official announcement previously confirmed that WWE Raw will be airing on Netflix, internationally while SmackDown has moved to the USA Network followed by NXT's move to The CW within the United States territory.

In an update, WWE programming will be shifting internationally to Netflix as SmackDown will debut on the OTT platform on January 4, 2025, RAW will follow on January 7 while NXT will make its transition on January 8, 2025.

This comes via advertisements doing rounds on Netflix and the excited WWE fans shared screenshots of the same on the internet. They have revealed that a "Coming Soon" page on Netflix in the United Kingdom is already available.

PWInsider has already reported that WWE is preparing to exit Foxtel and Binge in Australia as it's looking forward to transferring all of its content to Netflix. This move will eventually bring WWE programming to Netflix in the eastern region on specific dates yet to be announced.

Furthermore, WWE and Netflix's partnership will also produce a behind-the-scenes documentary series. WWE president Nick Khan gave the news during his presence at the Next Level Sports conference at USC in California.

It was noted that in addition to WWE moving Raw to Netflix in January, the signed deal between the two parties will bring out a behind-the-scenes documentary series similar to the acclaimed Formula 1: Drive to Survive series.

The announcement comes just a few weeks after Bill Simmons and Netflix produced the Mr. McMahon documentary on the streaming service based on the former WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon and it remained one of the most-watched content for two weeks.

WWE and Netflix signed a 5-year deal in January 2024 with options that the agreement could extend for as long as 20 years to air Raw beginning in January 2025. WWE will be given $500 million annually by the OTT giant, per the deal.
