Night of Champions 2023: Brock Lesnar to break own 20-year old streak at WWE PLE

Bengaluru, May 12: At Night of Champions 2023, the saga between Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes will continue as these two will collide in a rematch following Rhodes' win over Lesnar at Backlash in Puerto Rico over his busted open opponent.

This marks Brock's fifth consecutive premium live event match in 2023, which is rare given his part-time scenario. It's indeed a first-time instance since his return to the WWE for a second stint in 2012.

Since that year, The Beast Incarnate worked in only selected pay-per-view events (mostly in Big-Four PPVs WrestleMania, SummerSlam, Survivor Series and Royal Rumble and Saudi Arabia shows). But in 2023, he worked in all the bygone PPVs as given below:

- Royal Rumble 2023 - Lost the Men's Royal Rumble match

- Elimination Chamber 2023 - Lost to Bobby Lashley via DQ

- WrestleMania 39 - Defeated Omos

- Backlash 2023 - Lost to Cody Rhodes

Now with Night of Champions 2023 coming up, it will be his fifth consecutive PPV match on WWE programming. The last time Brock Lesnar performed in five consecutive PPV matches, was in 2003. Results from that five events are given below:

- Royal Rumble 2003 - Won the Royal Rumble Match

- No Way Out 2003 - Teamed up with Chris Benoit to defeat Team Angle in a Handicap Match

- WrestleMania 19 - Defeated Kurt Angle to win the WWE Championship

- Backlash 2003 - Defeated John Cena to retain the WWE Championship

- Judgment Day 2003 - Defeated Big Show in a Stretcher Match to retain the WWE Championship

There's no update on Lesnar's future schedule with the WWE but he could still be on board even after Night of Champions given that two bigger PPV events are approaching in the WWE schedule and the company might need him to sell out the venues.

On July 5, the 2023 Money in the Bank Premium Live Event will emanate from the O2 Arena in London, England while on SummerSlam 2023 will be a Stadium Show on August 5th from the Detroit Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.

As for Night of Champions 2023, the returning WWE Premium Live Event takes place at the Jeddah Superdome in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on May 27 just a day prior to WWE's rival brand AEW's annual Double or Nothing event in Las Vegas.

The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns will complete 1,000 days as champion at Night of Champions indicating that the night from Jeddah will be wrapped up after a massive celebration for WWE's Tribal Chief.
