Oscars 2024: Why WWE Superstar-Turned Hollywood Star John Cena Arrived Naked On Stage?

WWE superstar-turned Hollywood actor John Cena shocked the audience at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California by appearing naked on the stage during the Oscars 2024 on Sunday (March 10).

Cena was undressed as he made his way on stage at the 96th academy awards ceremony. Host Jimmy Kimmel set it up just before his arrival, and shared an anecdote when a streaker ran across the stage during the 1974 Academy Awards.

The former WWE champion came out naked to announce the winner for Best Costume Design. Cena first peeped out from the side and told the Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel that he didn't want to "do the streaker bit" anymore.

"It's an elegant event. Honestly, you should feel ashamed right now for suggesting such a tasteless idea. The male body is not a joke!" Cena told Kimmel, who replied there is nothing wrong, adding that he wrestles nude in WWE anyway.

Cena, however, replied: "Dude, I don't wrestle naked, I wrestle in jorts!" To this, Kimmel said that jorts (jean shorts) are worse than being naked."

The WWE star-turned Hollywood actor then walked out, covering himself with a huge winner's envelope to mixed reaction from the audience as some were seen laughing and some shocked.

"Costumes, they are so important. Maybe the most important thing there is!" Cena said before the lights dimmed and he read out the name of the nominees.

As he read the nominees, some people came to his rescue and dressed him with an attire as he then announced the winner of the category - Holly Waddington for Poor Things.

Holly beat off competition from Jacqueline Durran for Barbie, Jacqueline West for Killers of the Flower Moon, Janty Yates and Dave Crossman for Napoleon, and Ellen Mirojnick for Oppenheimer to win the Best Costume Design award.

While he looked naked, was the former WWE champion completely nude on the Oscars stage? As per, People.com, the former world champion did have an underwear on.

His undergarments were small and flesh colored, which gave an illusion that he was nude. But hawk-eyed observers could spot the waistband of his outfit from the photos, meaning Cena was not naked after all.

The 16-time champion has recently teased of making an appearance at WrestleMania, but there is no update on what capacity he will hold at the show of shows, where The Rock is set to headline the event.

The Rock, who is set to team up with Roman Reigns to face Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40, was seen at the Oscars event alongside Bad Bunny in backstage with John Cena.
