Bengaluru, August 22: After surprisingly getting left off three back-to-back premium live events, WWE will finally allow Rhea Ripley to defend her Women's World Championship at the Payback 2023 event that's coming up within two weeks.
As seen on Monday Night Raw, Women's World Champion Rhea Ripley defeated Candice LeRae in a quick time. Once the match was over, Raquel Rodriguez came out on a crutch but that was apparently a hoax to lure the champion.

Raquel revealed that she doesn't need a crutch anymore before attacking Rhea. A brawl broke out between them where Raquel flattened her current rival with a clothesline. Rhea eventually escaped the ring through the ramp.
Raquel then took the mic and revealed that she has been medically cleared to compete. Plus, she has also confirmed with WWE Official Adam Pearce that she will face Rhea Ripley for the Women's World Title at Payback 2023.
For weeks, Rhea has targeted the knees of her former contemporary on the NXT Women's Division to start the feud. The current belief is that Raquel is gearing up to grab the title from The Nightmare as the future of the female roster.
Previously, Rhea had voiced displeasure after being left off the SummerSlam 2023 card despite being the champion. Time constraints at the bygone PLE also reportedly scrapped the big match between Becky Lynch and Trish.
In changed circumstances, that match has also been confirmed to go down at Payback. After the fourth match between these two was announced to be a Steel Cage Match, the time and place were set during this week's Raw.
Also in a verbal confrontation, Trish Stratus implied that Becky Lynch isn't going to survive the stipulated match against her at Payback. Becky informed her that she's going to end her insurance policy, Zoey Stark in a Falls Count Anywhere match on next week's Raw.
The next title defense for the World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins has also been revealed for Payback against Shinsuke Nakamura. In a promo, the challenger stated of knowing the injuries that Rollins is dealing with for a long time.
Later, Rollins admitted that he has 2 fractures in his lumbar spine and has been dealing with it for 4 years. With regular in-ring competition in WWE, things are getting worse for him and Nakamura wants to take advantage of this situation.
The 2023 WWE Payback premium live event takes place at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania which will be the first PLE in the post-Summerslam 2023 season. The confirmed matches for the show are given below:
- WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match: Seth Rollins (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
- WWE Women's World Championship Match: Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Raquel Rodriguez
