Bengaluru, August 7: In one of the co-main events of the WWE SummerSlam 2023 premium live event, Cody Rhodes defeated Brock Lesnar to wrap their stretched feud up. In a clean pin-fall win, Cody hit three back-to-back Cross Rhodes to overcome his opponent.
Once the match was over, Brock Lesnar showed respect to Rhodes by shaking his hands, hugging him, and raising his arm. Many thought that it was WWE's way to put over Cody and turn Lesnar into a babyface character.

But in the post-SummerSlam 2023 press conference, Triple H confirmed that it was an unscripted spot for which Cody admittedly is grateful to the man, the same way his father Dusty Rhodes used to look up to Harley Race.
Before showing respect to Cody, Lesnar removed his gloves and many fans thought that he was retiring or heading into a long hiatus, especially since his favorite time of the year, the SummerSlam season is over.
According to the Wrestling Observer, Brock Lesnar is booked for the WWE Fastlane premium live event on October 7th. Even he's also locally being advertised for the next WWE PLE, Payback in early September.
"He's advertised for Payback, so maybe that's when he comes back. I was told he'll be gone for a while, but not a long while. So, we'll have to see what that means." (transcription courtesy Ringside News)
The general belief was that The Beast Incarnate will be kept off WWE TV after the Biggest Event of the Summer but if the local ads keep on playing featuring him then the top Superstar on Raw might not go into a long hiatus.
In popular opinion, Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes delivered a memorable third match at the summer spectacle and the latter one coming out as the winner in this bout could put him back into the championship hunt.
Cody lost a lot of momentums after coming up short against Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 39 for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship but this top feud with Lesnar dragged him back to track in fulfilling his wish of becoming a champion.
WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H showered Brock Lesnar with tons of respect during the SummerSlam conference for doing the trick for their current top babyface player of the Monday Night Raw brand, Cody Rhodes.
Triple H also implied that Lesnar doesn't get enough credit for being one of the greatest of all time unlike many of his contemporaries and that him, going unscripted at SummerSlam was a "holy s**t" moment for himself, as well as the fans.
