Bengaluru, March 1: The NXT Takeover events are considered to be a breaking point for the developmental brand and this event is hosted during the weekend of all the dual-brand PPV events, throughout the year.
Most of the current feuds in the NXT brand comes to a culmination in the special WWE-Network shows after which some of the superstars move to the main roster. This has been the tradition over the last few years.
Last year, Samoa Joe debuted as the first name from NXT after the Royal Rumble PPV. Following that, Shinsuke Nakamura joined the Smackdown brand after Wrestlemania. Even, Bobby Roode joined them once Summerslam was finished.
Apart from that, there were various other names who from time to time moved on to the main roster scene. Names like Asuka, Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville, Tye Dillinger, The Revival were amongst the list.
This year, we are yet to see any NXT star's appearance on either Raw or Smackdown. But, with the NXT Takeover: New Orleans, very close, it is certain that some of NXT's big names are being groomed backstage for the same purpose.
According to the reports from Slice Wrestling, the front-runners to get shifted from NXT are Johnny Gargano, Andrade Almas, Drew McIntyre, Ember Moon and Authors of Pain. Almas and Ember are the current NXT and women’s champions, respectively. So, it is expected that they will drop their championships at the upcoming NXT Takeover event before joining the big league.
Johnny Gargano has already lost a “Loser Leaves NXT” match against Almas which is why his exit from NXT is confirmed. Meanwhile, Drew McIntyre might be scheduled to recover from a bicep injury and get the call-up to join any one of the shows hosted on Monday or Tuesday nights. As for The Authors of Pain they are done with their feuds with the Undisputed Era for the tag titles which is why their arrival is confirmed.
