Randy Orton WWE Return: Update on The Viper's possible involvement at SummerSlam 2023

Bengaluru, August 2: One of the all-time greats in WWE history, Randy Orton hadn't been seen on TV for over a year due to a back injury which also clouded his in-ring career. Thankfully, he has seemingly overcome all the obstacles thrown by his body.

If the latest updates are to go by then the future WWE Hall of Famer has started gearing up for his return but his body may not be responding as fast as possible so that he could appear at Summerslam 2023, this weekend.

In an update provided by Fightful Select, it was reported that Randy Orton is healing up from the wounds but he hasn't recovered well enough to return to in-ring competition. There's no update on his recovery timetable.

WWE creative sources noted that the top WWE Superstar is yet to be factored into their plans due to uncertainty about his health and that brings a thumbs down regarding his Summerslam status.

The 14-time WWE World Champion has reportedly resumed weight training, and sources were told that he's in "huge" shape. However, in-ring training sessions are yet to begin and he hasn't taken a bump for a long time. Here's more from the source:

"Orton is planning to make a return to the ring. However, a lower back fusion isn't typical among pro wrestlers and is uncharted territory for many. Doctors have told Orton that wrestling in the future isn't a good idea."

The 43-year-old is reportedly not cleared for in-ring training and one source emphasized not to "not count on" a potential return for him at WWE SummerSlam 2023 this Saturday at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.

Despite doctor's denials, Randy Orton is on his way back to the WWE, at some point with no timeframe being determined. It's assumed that he will be brought to the WWE Performance Center, first before the return process finally begins.

Orton's wife Kim Marie Orton often posts updates regarding his husband. In the latest, she responded to a fan-made video and claimed herself to be lucky enough to be hit by RKOs in her bedroom.

Unfortunately, Kim didn't mention if her husband was fit enough to nail anyone with an "RKO outta nowhere." So for the time being, Randy Orton's impending WWE return will continue to get stretched up.
