Reason Ronda Rousey missed a Fight Pit match at WWE SummerSlam 2023

Ronda Rousey had essentially been a fighting machine be it in her MMA or WWE career. It would be a perfect fit that her final televised match in the WWE would have been under the Fight Pit gimmick but it didn't go that way for some reasons.

Last year, an MMA Rules Match took place at SummerSlam featuring Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler in which the latter emerged victorious to send the former out of the WWE as her contract reportedly expired.

When the match went down at SummerSlam, reports already claimed that WWE Creative had some issues with the booking of the MMA Rules Match. The match was used as a bathroom break in Ford Field due to a lack of plans.

In a recent interview with Fightful, Baszler revealed that she and Ronda Rousey offered better ideas for their match at SummerSlam 2023. However, the host stadium had its restrictions and the match didn't play out as planned.

"We couldn't get a cage or a fight pit in there because of the rigging in a dome situation is totally different. There was a lot. We tried to work out some other things, it just didn't work out. We did the best we could with what we had."

It's no secret that fans expressed dissatisfaction with the Rousey vs. Baszler match at SummerSlam 2023. The fact was highlighted that the bout should have had clear rules to engage the viewers but it never went down like that.

Expectedly, Ronda Rousey opted to leave the WWE as well as professional wrestling for good after that match. She admittedly was on bad terms with the previously Vince McMahon-owned company as revealed in her book, Our Fight.

Irrespective of how Ronda Rousey's tenure with the WWE ended, she main-evented WrestleMania en route to becoming a multi-time Women's Champion in the company. In sports entertainment, she is the only female talent to have won titles in UFC and WWE.
