Bengaluru, July 28: The Great Khali turned out to be the deciding factor at the Battleground championship match inside the Punjabi Prison.

Khali returned at a point when Randy Orton was about to win. When his strong clutches were more than enough to choke the contender out and let Jinder Mahal escape in order to retain his title.

This was Khali's first appearance in the WWE ever since he left the company in 2014 after his contract expired and no renewal was made by the promotion.

Back in his native land in India, he was busy building his own wrestling academy named Continental Wrestling Entertainment until he was contacted to reappear in the WWE at Battleground.

Ever since his return, there have been speculations as to why he was brought back after a long time.

The veteran wrestling journalist, Dave Meltzer noted the topic on his latest reports in Wrestling Observer Newsletter and said that the call up is purely on the basis of cementing Jinder Mahal's legacy in the WWE.

The WWE championship was put into Jinder Mahal's shoulder in order to garner more viewership from the Indian region. But, since least of the fans were acquainted with Jinder's face, not much of the fans have actually liked his title reign, so far.

In comparison, The Great Khali is considered as one national hero in the India being a true Indian wrestler. He was the one to put our native land into the pro-wrestling map by winning the world championship back in the last decade.

So, it is the time to put over the new champion with a veteran Indian performer like Khali.

The Punjabi monster's return took place at the right moment because he is considered as the creator of the Punjabi Prison match. With this appearance, he is now being involved in all the three matches that took place inside this demonic structure.

As for Khali's future, the source hinted that it's time that the former world champion might lace up his boots, again. We should not be surprised if he is put into the Summerslam match card, as well. He departed in the year 2014 but never retired, officially.
