Revealed: AJ Styles’ next opponent for the United States Championship

New Delhi, Aug 28: The rivalry between AJ Styles started back in the post-Wrestlemania season. As part of the Superstar Shakeup, the latter one was sent to the Smackdown brand. He was inserted into a United States championship feud with the 'face that runs the place', straight.

For the fans, it was considered to be a dream feud. These two are considered as two of the most veteran players on the independent circuit who have delivered big time matchups. So, it was a much-anticipated rivalry to witness in the WWE.

Now, the bad blood between them has been growing by time as the rivalry was stretched till the Summerslam PPV. The title changed hands for a few times and a number of matches took place, thereby. This led to the storyline to fade away from a fan's point of view.

To keep it interesting Shane McMahon was inserted into the feud. As we have seen on the last episode of Smackdown, Owens has received yet another match for the US title which he came up lost. The rivalry has finally culminated which means they will move forward in their own ways.

It's quite evident that AJ Styles will receive a newer opponent for his championship, going forward. Plus, he is also likely to hold the US Open challenge, every single week. In a report from stillrealtous.com, Baron Corbin was mentioned as the next challenger of Styles for the title.

It is to be noted that Corbin has acted as the special guest referee in the last match of Owens and Styles. He was very partial to Owens counting fast. He also pushed Styled in between the match hinting that he might go after Styles, from this point on.

Apparently, the rivalry between Styles and Corbin is set to start from this week onwards. On the other hand, Owens is likely to move into another newer feud against Shane McMahon which might build up for a future Hell in a Cell matchup.

Although Corbin is getting a lifetime opportunity to work with Styles, it is not likely that he will pick up the title. He is suffering from several backstage heats that led to losing the Money in the Bank briefcase. This heat is supposed to continue as Styles will be holding the US title around his waist.
