Bengaluru, March 16: It was earlier reported that WWE is bringing back the tradition of hosting all the PPV events in a co-branded way. The brand-exclusive events will become extinct, going forward as both Raw and Smackdown superstars can participate in each of the PPV events.

Now, ever since this news has broken out by several sources, the speculations are running high with the potential changes that will come along with this decision. The first question that needed to be answered was whether the brand split will be withdrawn. The answer to this question is NO.

As revealed in an update from WrestleVotes, the split will be kept in full effect. The return of the WWE Draft confirmed the fact. Further reports from Wrestleview.com suggested that once Wrestlemania gets over, the much-anticipated process will be back in the programming.

The potential date of its return is going to be at the Backlash event or just around it. Check out the updates from the source,

“WWE also has plans to hold another Draft at the Backlash PPV this May, explaining both brands being advertised. If this were to be the plan for the PPV, it would mark the “draft” among the brands since the Superstar Shake Up that took place last April following WrestleMania 33.”

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted on the hot topic, as well indicating the reasons why WWE might have brought back the co-branded PPV shows. According to him, the brand-specific events did not receive much attention and live up to the expectations, especially in the past year.

The ticket sales have reduced with a repeatition in a number of matches. Most of the time, marquee names were not available in these events. Bringing back the dual-brand PPVs will help the storyline progress, too, according to SportsKeeda.com,

“With the way the brand-specific pay per views were set up, there could be two months before a storyline could have a blow-off match on a pay per view, making it harder for creative to book television on a weekly basis.”

Another strong reason for the past tradition to be brought back is that WWE might to host every PPV event for four hours long just like the big-four events. It will help the audience to be glued to WWE Network for long time as well as give more screen-time to the superstars performing in the show.
