Rumour: Daniel Bryan to be special guest referee for WWE Championship match

Bengaluru, December 17: As reported earlier, there are huge speculations going around the potential in-ring return of Daniel Bryan. Following WWE letting their rules a bit loose for the legendary Kurt Angle and allowing him to perform inside the ring, once again, the Smackdown General Manager became quite determined while trying to gather evidence of him being medically fit to compete.

The WWE officials were said to be re-checking those in order to allow him to wrestle inside the ring, again. Some of the reports also suggested that the head of the WWE medical team has moved away from his previous decision of not allowing Daniel Bryan to get back in that ring, ever again.

In the meantime, we are seeing the cold war going on between Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon that is expected to result in a potential match if the GM is indeed medically cleared. Also, a recent advertisement from WWE also indicates the same. Apparently, he is expected to act as the special guest referee, as per it.

WWE will have two special Raw and Smackdown episodes on December 25th and 26th, respectively on Monday and Tuesday on the occasion of Christmas. To add hype to the Smackdown show, they are advertising Daniel Bryan as the special guest referee in a WWE Championship match set to take place on that night.

It is to be noted that ever since his retirement, the former WWE world heavyweight champion has never been involved in an in-ring capacity on live TV until the fall of 2017. This is due to the neck injury which has ruled him out off any physical activity. With this news coming in, we can definitely expect some positive outcome on Bryan's in-ring return.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter stated the potential reason of the GM acting as the referee on that night is to boost the ticket sales for the show to be hosted at the All-State Arena in Chicago, Illinois. This announcement is likely to help the same as WWE Raw is also advertising John Cena on the Christmas show for the same purpose.

It is being assumed that AJ Styles and Jinder Mahal is likely to have a rematch for the WWE Championship after the Clash of Champions PPV. There would be some fallouts from the event that will be settled on the very last TV show of 2017 under the observation of the most popular WWE superstar of the current generation.
