Bengaluru, February 10: WWE superstar Jinder Mahal could possibly face National Football League (NFL) star Rob Gronkowski in Wrestlemania 34.

Following February 4's Super Bowl LII (Super Bowl 52 or Super Bowl 2018), Mahal taunted Gronkowski on twitter after the latter's team, New England Patriots, lost to Philadelphia Eagles.

Last year, Gronkowski appeared on WWE and cost the Indian-origin WWE star the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. After the Patriots' defeat, Mahal posted a tweet directed at Gronk, pointing out that Karma must have got him. Rumours of a clash between the two in Wrestlemania then took shape.

The Providence Journal reported that Gronk might have played his last game for the Patriots this Super Bowl, which paves the way for him to sign a deal with the WWE and work in a one-off match. Talking about his future, Gronk stated: "I don’t know how you heard that, but I mean, I’m definitely going to look at my future, for sure. I’ll sit down in the next couple of weeks and see where I’m at.”

At this point, the Modern-Day Maharaja has not been booked for any of the championship feuds on Smackdown Live. He needs a big opponent for the WWE to build up a rivalry and who better than a popular NFL star. Plus, a match against Rob Gronkowski, a mainstream sportsman, will bring the company much attention.

Previously, while talking to Sports Illustrated, the former WWE Champion stated that he has an 'unfinished business’ with the NFL star, hinting that he will seek redemption in the future.

“Rob Gronkowski cost me the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, and I haven’t forgot that. There is definitely unfinished business between myself and Gronkowski, and I can guarantee he’ll be getting his receipt," he said.
