Rumour: WWE to bring back Global Warning event

Bengaluru, March 2: Every year, WWE tries to add some new events to their PPV schedule as a new event automatically creates curiosity among the fans. Last year, it was the Great Balls of Fire PPV and this year another old event in the form a new PPV is expected to make its way to the WWE calendar.
The event in discussion is also expected to be hosted overseas.
The news first broke by Pro-wrestling Sheet where they stated that the Global Warning PPV will be hosted as a brand-exclusive PPV, later in the year 2018. It was originally a live event tour hosted back in the year 2002 in Australia where the Attitude Era superstars headlined the show.
The house show was hosted at the Dockland’s Stadium (formerly Colonial Stadium) in Melbourne, Australia. The fight card was stacked with the very best in the WWE like Triple H, The Rock, Brock Lesnar, Stone Cold etc. and the main event featured an undisputed WWE Championship match between Triple H and The Rock.
The source has reported that there have been some talks among the creative heads to recreate the tour to Australia. But, this time around this will either be a PPV show or a WWE Network-Exclusive event with live telecast. This would be a big treat for the WWE fans in Australia.
If plans to host this event as a PPV comes to fruition then it will be the 15th of the year 2018. WWE considers to shift the show from the Dockland’s Stadium (intake capacity 56000) to the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Almost 100000 people can watch the show, in that case. This would earn some more mainstream attention for the company as well.
Previously, WWE had sold out the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas (capacity 60000) for the Royal Rumble 2017 which is a record for attendance. With the Global Warning event coming up, the company is willing to break the record again even if they can sell 80 percent of the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The highest record still stands with Wrestlemania 32 where more than 100000 people watched the show at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas.
