Rumour: WWE plan romantic angle for two superstar pairs

Bengaluru, February 6: The Mixed Match Challenge contest has been added to the WWE schedule from January 16th onwards. This is the first-ever pro-wrestling show to take place on the social media platform. In case you didn’t know, Facebook Watch is the original home of these mixed tag team matches which is hosted right after Smackdown Live, every week.

Now, despite all the hype around the show, the live viewers have reduced every week which has created a headache for the officials. The highest number of viewers were recorded in the first week whereas the viewership reduced to half of it, last week. This might be why WWE officials are planning new things to attract more fans.

Creating romantic angles are one of those, in recent times. Tonight’s episode of Mixed Match Challenge will witness Mandy Rose and Goldust teaming up to take on Jimmy Uso and Naomi. In case you didn’t know, Alicia Fox was the original teammate for Goldust. Due to an ankle injury, Foxy was removed and Mandy Rose was added to the mix.

The pair of the Bizarre One and one-third member of The Absolution became an instant hit going by the social media. They have matches robes, as well which is why the team was named Rosegold. Meanwhile, a video was posted on WWE’s Youtube channel where Goldust wanted to take her partner on a dinner date starting a romantic angle.

Rose was walking in the backstage area when he met Goldust who suggested to go on a date in a bizarre way. She thought of having a date on Tuesday night for the Mixed Match Challenge (MMC) due to a misunderstanding. Goldust clarified his statements but it was too late as Mandy walked out of the scene by then.



It will be interesting to see whether this romantic angle gets continued on tonight’s episode. Another such angle started on the MMC was the one between Alexa Bliss and Braun Strowman. After winning their scheduled match, last week, the monster broke character and admitted Little Miss Bliss as a cute partner.



Bliss was seen blushing on the spot and give it back to her partner calling him 'cute’, too before the segment ended. Such interesting angles do attract the fans a lot, to the programming. Hopefully, these set-ups do some favor to the MMC ratings starting from tonight.
