Shane McMahon announces fatal-4-way WWE title match for Fastlane PPV

Bengaluru, February 9: The WWE Championship match at the Fastlane PPV was confirmed while Smackdown Live went off the air, last week. In the main event of the show, we saw a number one contender's match between two best friends, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. Despite being an entertaining contest, it did not end with a result.
AJ Styles intefered in the match to cause disqualification and this forced Daniel Bryan to come out and announce the title match. After considering the no-contest matchup between the contenders, he handed away an opportunity to both of them. So, at Fastlane, a triple threat championship match was announced featuring AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn.
Also, while closing this week's show, a singles contest was confirmed for next week's edition. Dolph Ziggler is set to return to the show after a two month break and will take on Baron Corbin in a singles match. It came as a surprise announcement.
To add to it, Shane McMahon made a huge twist for this upcoming contest. According to the Twitter handle of the Smackdown Live commissioner, this match was made a contender's match for the WWE Championship. The winner will be inserted into the earlier announced triple threat contest making it a fatal-4-way. Previously, the venue of the Fastlane PPV also advertised a multi-man match for the main event.
Now, this seems understandable when you add Dolph Ziggler into the mix. He claimed to be too good for the US title and hence vacated the Championship to pursue something bigger and better. And a chance for the prime title present in the WWE would be the best option for the show-off who had been world champion on multiple occasions to achieve the goal.
Furthermore, this announcement from Shane McMahon seems to be a counter to Daniel Bryan's favoritism of Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. The commissioner does not think that these two heels deserve title opportunities whereas Bryan thinks the opposite and gave them opportunities in the past. So, this time around, Shane made a decision of his own.
With this title match being a fatal-4-way, it will be contested under no disqualification rules. So, AJ Styles does not need to be the one pinned or submitted to lose his title. This might also shatter the chances of seeing a dream title match against Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE title.
