The Rock is gearing up for another Hollywood project with filming set to be underway at the beginning of 2024 summer which should write him off WWE programme following WrestleMania 40 and essentially keep him away from a rumoured Saudi Arabia PLE appearance.
Going by the updates from PWInsider, The Attitude Era Legend will play the role of an MMA fighter in a forthcoming drama produced by A24, the same studio that created the 2023 film The Iron Claw chronicling the rise and fall of the Von Erich family.

For this project, The Rock will collaborate with director Benny Safdie of "Uncut Gems" fame. Titled "The Smashing Machine," the movie revolves around the story of Mark Kerr, a two-time UFC Heavyweight Tournament Champion.
According to what PWInsider has to offer, the filming for the movie is scheduled to span across three months, commencing on May 1, 2024, and concluding on August 1, 2024, with production scheduled in Los Angeles, New Mexico, Tokyo, and Vancouver.
That being said, it's safe to assume that The People's Champion won't be available for a match at WWE's Saudi Arabia premium live event in May since he will be facing movie insurance issues.
The lead actress for this movie will be Emily Blunt, who will portray Kerr's wife, Dawn Staples. Safdie has penned the script while the production will be handled By Rock and Dany Garcia's Seven Bucks Productions, Safdie's Out for the Count banner, along with Eli Bush and David Koplan.
Furthermore, the movie will be documenting the professional career of Mark Kerr, his rise in MMA that led to receiving "The Smashing Machine" moniker, and his struggles with addiction to painkillers, which resulted in an overdose.
As of this writing, The Rock is set to feature in the main event of Night One of WrestleMania 40, where he will team up with WWE Champion Roman Reigns to take on the team of Men's Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins.
