Spring Breakin’ 2024: Title Match announced for WWE NXT special edition

Trick Williams will challenge WWE NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov for the title at the 2024 edition of Spring Breakin'. The spring-themed edition of the NXT show will go down on two back-to-back Tuesday nights, April 23 and April 30.

It was revealed during the latest Tuesday night episode of the WWE NXT episode that the NXT title match featuring the above-mentioned duo will serve as the main event of the special Tuesday, April 23 Spring Breakin' edition.

After a win over Carmelo Hayes in the main event of last Saturday's NXT Stand & Deliver PLE, Williams intended to go after Dragunov's NXT title. Dragunov initially refused the challenge but eventually agreed to put the title on the line.

At the same time, he did so under the condition that if Williams loses the match, then he must leave NXT. Hayes also appeared in the segment, laid out both Dragunov and Williams before challenging Williams to a steel cage match for next week's NXT.

The 2024 Spring Breakin' doesn't have another confirmed match except for the NXT title bout. But going by the current happening on NXT, Oba Femi vs. Ivar for the NXT North American Title Match and AOP vs. Nathan Frazer & Axiom NXT Tag title Match could be announced.

While we expect these announcements to be made during next week's NXT, it's coming up with a loaded card, itself. After another backstage confrontation between Noam Dar and Dijak, they will square off in a singles encounter.

Ridge Holland will return to action after a short-lived kayfabe retirement to take on the LWO's Joaquin Wilde after he was featured in a backstage confrontation with the latter. No update is there on Holland's retirement storyline.

Plus, NXT's Lola Vice was featured in a backstage segment with Natalya Neidhart on the latest episode to get into a brawl. Now, she will go one-on-one with Sol Ruca to possibly pick up some momentums. At a glance, the April 16 NXT card goes as follows:

  • Steel cage match: Carmelo Hayes vs. Trick Williams
  • Ridge Holland vs. Joaquin Wilde
  • Lola Vice vs. Sol Ruca
  • Dijak vs. Noam Dar
