Bengaluru, August 1: Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler's days to stick together in the WWE and dominate the women's division are over as they're set to rip each other apart at SummerSlam 2023. Now, they'll do so in a familiar territory.
Since the match was announced for the August WWE premium live event, Baszler has mentioned in her promos about having a "Fight" against Ronda rather than just having a professional wrestling match inside the squared circle.

Proving the speculations true of the two having a match under a stipulated environment, WWE has now confirmed that Ronda Rousey vs. Shayna Baszler will be an MMA Rules Match at the biggest event of the summer.
Nothing, in particular, was noted by the WWE about how the match outcome will be determined. Perhaps, a TKO or Submission win will be counted instead of just a traditional pin-fall or a submission victory in a wrestling match.
With this announcement, WWE Universe will also see the first-ever MMA Rules Match in pro-wrestling history at SummerSlam 2023 where two former UFC athletes will lock horns to settle the ongoing bad blood.
Back at Money in the Bank PLE, last month Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey defended their Unified WWE Women's Tag Team Championships against Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez where the fresh feud kicked off.
Baszler attacked Rousey from behind during this match and passed her out using the lethal Kirifuda Clutch submission hold. This, in turn, allowed Morgan and Rodriguez to pick up the victory and become two-time tag team champions in the WWE.
As previously revealed by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE always had plans for a feud between Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler. A delay was caused partially due to Ronda sustaining an arm injury in the WrestleMania 39 season.
In the meantime, Ronda's "hard out" date has long been approaching for a WWE departure and the company's creative team was basically forced to pull the trigger on this program at SummerSlam with the minimum build.
"They had to get [the feud] done now. This was the latest they could go. Yeah, they wanted a long title reign to build it up and to do the whole thing where you can see the stuff coming, the little teases, and everything. They didn't have time."
While nothing is confirmed the current assumption is that SummerSlam 2023 could mark the end of Ronda Rousey's WWE career as her ongoing deal with the biggest pro-wrestling brand will be over. We expect more future updates on this situation.
