Summerslam 2023: Spoiler on Women’s World Championship match at WWE PLE

Bengaluru, July 5: Builds for Summerslam 2023 have begun from this week onward on Monday Night Raw but any official match is yet to be booked for the PLE despite WWE internally setting up the top matches.

If the latest reports are to be considered then WWE is also having plans for the Women's World Championship match for Summerslam 2023 where the champion Rhea Ripley is set to defend against another behemoth Superstar from Raw.

As seen on the latest episode of Raw, Rhea Ripley defeated Natalya Neidhart to retain the Women's World Championship with authority. Before the match, Nattie attacked Ripley from behind to seek redemption from the earlier attacks.

However, Ripley got back to her rhythm, moments later and eventually planted Natalya with the Riptide for another successful title defense. Once the match was over, the champion kept on attacking the unsuccessful challenger, yet again.

This led to WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez coming out to make the save. Ripley had to retreat from the ring, after this and this segment teased a title match reserved for the Biggest Event of the Summer.

According to the updates from Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE might be willing to book Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel Rodriguez for the Women's World Title at next month's Summerslam 2023 premium live event.

The primary reason behind setting up this match is that there's no other woman ready yet to face an unbeatable persona in Ripley other than Raquel. However, it might again lessen the importance of the Women's Tag Team Championships.

On that same episode of Raw, Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville won a Tag Team Turmoil to become the Number-One Contenders for the Women's Tag Team Titles but they are yet to officially receive their title match.

Rather, WWE was focused on building Raquel vs. Ripley as the two not only had a face-off but during a backstage segment, the latter complained about Raquel interfering in her business while talking to other Judgment Day members.

It appears like WWE will book this sure-shot Tag Team Title match on an episode of Raw which will be freeing up Raquel for the Women's World Title match at SummerSlam 2023 set for August 5.

Rhea Ripley won the Smackdown Women's Title at Wrestlemania 39 from Charlotte Flair. After the Draft, she was retained on the Raw brand and her title was reintroduced as the new Women's World Title, last month.
