SummerSlam 2023: Top female Superstars unhappy after being left out of WWE PLE

Bengaluru, August 4: Within 72 hours, WWE will present SummerSlam 2023 edition from Detroit's Ford Field, this weekend and the card has already come together in a big way. Originally, 8 matches were planned for the big event but there's been a last-minute addition.

WWE counted in a Slim Jim battle royal to the SummerSlam card which will include LA Knight, Chad Gable, Otis, Shinsuke Nakamura, and more into the mix. The announcement of this match also did make a lot of modifications to the card.

A program between Becky Lynch and WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus has been going on for the past couple of months and the culmination match was supposed to go down at SummerSlam but it's been removed due to the battle royal.

WWE was also building up a Women's World Championship match between Rhea Ripley and her former best friend from NXT, Raquel Rodriguez, on the road to SummerSlam but this match also had to be scrapped from the card.

There have been chatters all over the internet about the mistreatment of the WWE women's division as the top superstars will be missing the biggest event of the summer. Rhea Ripley liked a couple of such tweets from the fans to echo the same sentiment.

Becky Lynch also posted shots from her SummerSlam photo shoot on Instagram, indicating that she isn't comfortable about getting left off the match card of the PLE. WWE, on the other hand, has its own reasons to cancel these two women's division matches.

A tenured member of the WWE creative team informed Ringside News that the Slim Jim battle royal will drag "worth lot of money to the company." So they had to make sure to add the match to the card, no matter what.

As for the cancellation of Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus at SummerSlam, Fightful Select reports that WWE felt that the company would be forced to give this one less time at the event, but it could be showcased easily on Raw in Toronto in two weeks.

With Triple H in charge of booking, WWE has been adamant about the length and number of matches at its Premium Live Events and hence they failed to make the likes of Becky or Ripley happy.

WWE has also considered moving Becky vs. Trish to Payback but it's been confirmed for the August 14 Raw episode. As for Ripley vs. Raquel, the Payback slot remains a valid option in early September.
