SummerSlam 2023: Top match featuring WWE Hall of Famer scrapped from PLE

Bengaluru, August 1: The high-profile match between the two top women in the WWE from two different generations has now been canceled from SummerSlam 2023. Instead, they will now battle on a regular episode of Raw within two weeks from now.

As seen last week, Becky Lynch had to defeat Zoey Stark to book herself against Trish Stratus at SummerSlam 2023. Many believed that a win for Becky over the WWE legend will wrap things up for the program.

Then on this week's Raw, Becky arrived at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas to demand the match against Trish to be preponed right there on the show. Trish arrived on the ramp and hesitated to get into the match.

The seven-time women's champion was still wearing the face-mask and she mentioned the injury to be unable to compete. However, WWE Official Adam Pearce did force her to get into action against Becky.

Soon after the match bell rang, Trish's ally Zoey Stark interfered to bring a disqualification end to the match. After the match, Trish and Zoey also double-teamed on Becky before leaving through the ramp.

Upon arriving backstage, Adam Pearce informed Trish that she will have to again face Becky Lynch again in two weeks on the August 14 episode of Raw at the Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and Zoey Stark will be banned from ringside in that match.

There are not much details available on what forced WWE to cancel a much-anticipated rematch from SummerSlam which was already confirmed. Perhaps, they really wanted to lighten up the unnecessary load of the match card from the PLE.

Also, Lynch has reportedly been nursing an injury in recent weeks which could be another reason for taking the top star off SummerSlam. Fightful Select further noted that the decision to push back the match was made over the weekend.

There's a also rumour going on which suggests that Becky Lynch will take time off, this summer which appeared to be a tease that Trish might pick up the win and continue making appearances on WWE TV.

We have to wait and see what WWE has in store for the feud between the two trailblazers of women's wrestling. For the time being, the current match card for the 2023 SummerSlam PLE without their matchup goes as follows:
