SummerSlam 2024: Referee’s instructions; WWE PLE host and pre-show announced

WWE Raw delivered their final installment before the 2024 annual SummerSlam premium live event, last night from St. Paul, Minnesota. The show opened with Seth Rollins, the special guest referee for this weekend's CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre.

Punk and McIntyre were present during the segment and they were reminded that their SummerSlam bout would be canceled if they made any physical contact with each other. Punk exited the ring to avoid any potential confrontation.

Seth forced the Second City Saint to get back into the ring. At this point, McIntyre tried to make an ally with Seth by arguing that Punk was their common enemy. Seth wasn't keen on listening to his theory, however.

Being the appointed official, he dubbed this match between Punk and McIntyre to be a "violent masterpiece." Seth further stated that there is only one rule in the match: both competitors must listen to him as he will act to be the boss and the law.

Punk mentioned that he has heart and fan support while McIntyre taunted him by holding up Punk's bracelet which has his wife and dog's names on it. This prompted a face-off between the two to end the segment.

Also on Raw, The Miz announced that he will be hosting this year's SummerSlam as the show takes place in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. Miz previously expressed regrets in interviews for not getting into the actual match card of the PLE.

During the announcement segment, R-Truth came in and threw a few jokes. Being the confused guy that he is, Truth thought that WWE was bringing back their old-school In Your House events after Miz mentioned Cleveland to be "his house."

It was also announced there will be a countdown pre-show to the 2024 SummerSlam PLE that will stream for three hours, starting at 4 PM ET and it will go head-to-head with AEW Collision which will air at 5 PM ET on the TNT Network.

The 2024 Summerslam WWE premium live event will take place at the Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday, August 3. Seven matches have been announced for the card of the annual PLE:

• Undisputed WWE Championship Match: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Solo Sikoa
• WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match: Damian Priest (c) vs. 2024 King of the Ring winner Gunther
• WWE Women's Championship Match: Bayley (c) vs. 2024 Queen of the Ring winner Nia Jax
• WWE Women's World Championship Match: Liv Morgan (c) vs. Rhea Ripley
• WWE United States Championship Match: Logan Paul (c) vs. LA Knight
• WWE Intercontinental Championship Match: Sami Zayn (c) vs. Bron Breakker
• CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre (Seth Rollins serves as the Special Guest Referee)
• Jelly Roll to perform
• The Miz to host
