SummerSlam 2024: Top WWE Superstar’s return plans in place for August PLE?

The second biggest WWE premium live event of the year in the form of SummerSlam 2024 is waiting for us within five weeks which will be yet another outdoor show from the iconic Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday, August 3.

Given the large-scale status of the show, big matches and returns are expected around the PLE including the former WWE Women's World Champion Rhea Ripley who's currently out of action due to a shoulder injury.

One of the current headliner storylines on Monday Night Raw is about Liv Morgan's continuous pursuit of Dominik Mysterio, as she is attempting to create a rift between him and his on-screen girlfriend Rhea Ripley.

This angle started to unfold after Ripley was sidelined due to the aforementioned injury which also occurred following a backstage attack by Morgan on the April 8 episode of Raw, a week after WrestleMania XL.

The injury forced Ripley to relinquish her Women's World Title, which Morgan subsequently captured from Becky Lynch. Plans were already there to reignite Ripley's feud with Morgan upon the latter's return in about four months.

The Wrestling Observer then reported that Rhea Ripley is undergoing shoulder rehabilitation rather than opting for surgery which caused doubts over her originally predicted return timetable but further updates claim that she has since inched closer to re-enter the WWE scenario.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select noted in a follow-up report that WWE sources said they have plans in place for The Nightmare to rejoin the ongoing Morgan-Dominik program in time for SummerSlam whenever she's ready, even in a non-wrestling role.

"There had been reports that Rhea Ripley wasn't scheduled for WWE SummerSlam. However, WWE sources had indicated that they have things constructed that Ripley can slide in and return to the program whenever she's ready, even in a non-wrestling capacity."

While there is no confirmation of the current creative plans or direct inquiries with Ripley, the hope within WWE is that she will be back on TV in some capacity ahead of SummerSlam right back into the Women's World Title picture.

Away from the WWE, Rhea Ripley (real name Demi Bennett) married former WWE Superstar Buddy Matthews (real name Matthew Adams), last weekend. It will be interesting to see if the social media pictures of this marriage put an end to the kayfabe Ripley-Dominik romance.
