CM Punk has officially been announced to be medically cleared and he will compete at the 2024 WWE SummerSlam premium live event, next weekend in the much-anticipated match against bitter rival Drew McIntyre.
However, there will be a twist in the tale as Seth "Freakin'" Rollins has been appointed to be the special guest referee of the match. The revelation came after McIntyre was also reinstated on the Raw roster to set up the match in the first place.

On the July 22 episode of Monday Night Raw, CM Punk appeared to announce that he was cleared and that he wanted to fight Drew McIntyre right then and there. McIntyre came out but wasn't interested in fighting Punk in a city like Green Bay.
Punk attempted to attack McIntyre when Raw General Manager Adam Pearce interrupted and informed him that the match would instead take place at SummerSlam. Seth Rollins then came out and announced his role of being the special guest referee in their match.
Since this year's January, we haven't seen Punk in action as he underwent surgery for a triceps injury that took place at the Royal Rumble. SummerSlam will mark his first singles contest in WWE after 10 years.
Despite being out of in-ring competition, The Straight Edge Leader continued his storyline with The Scottish Warrior throughout the post-WrestleMania XL season by costing him World Heavyweight Championship shots on multiple occasions.
Also announced on Raw, Bron Breakker will be getting yet another Intercontinental Title match opportunity at SummerSlam against the champion in a singles bout. A possible triple threat featuring Ilja Dragunov has now been ruled out.
This match confirmation came after Bron Breakker defeated Ilja Dragunov via Referee Stoppage to become the Number-One Contender for the Intercontinental Championship on Raw. Breakker hit a mid-air spear after which the referee stopped the match due to Dragunov's inability to continue.
The 2024 SummerSlam premium live event takes place at the Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday, August 3. Overall seven matches and a performance have been confirmed for the PLE as given below:
