SummerSlam 2024: WWE Championship match booked; New challenge issued

A rampage ensued in the closing segment of this week's SmackDown to set up the possible main event bout of this year's SummerSlam which will witness the Undisputed WWE Championship to be on the line.

Jacob Fatu of The Bloodline attacked the WWE Tag Team Champions Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano following their successful title defense over A-Town Down Under in the final match of SmackDown after which a promo session followed from Solo Sikoa.

Surrounded by Fatu, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa, Solo told the fans to acknowledge him, but they chanted "We Want Roman". In response, Solo said that the fans don't deserve Roman, but even Roman will acknowledge him if he ever comes back.

Solo further wanted Cody Rhodes to acknowledge him as the WWE Champion came out and agreed to defend his title at SummerSlam 2024 against the self-proclaimed Bloodline leader. But he also wanted to fight on the spot.

All 4 men of The Bloodline then attacked Cody while Randy Orton joined in but failed to make the save. Solo hit Cody with the Samoan Spike after tying him up in the ring ropes, while Orton was powerbomb-ed through the announce table.

In more news around SummerSlam 2024, LA Knight has issued a challenge to the United States Champion Logan Paul for a title match at the PLE. Knight presented a signed contract from SmackDown GM Nick Aldis but Paul wasn't there on the show.

Knight scored a pinfall win over Paul in a Money in the Bank qualifying match on the June 28 SmackDown episode. Paul will return on the next week's SmackDown on Friday, July 19 to respond to the challenge from Knight.

The 2024 SummerSlam WWE premium live event will take place at the Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday, August 3. As of this writing, three matches for the second-biggest PLE have been announced which are given below:
