WWE is hell-bent on hosting its premium live events on a larger scale and the effort was further noticed with the announcement that SummerSlam will become a two-night show starting in 2026.
On Thursday night, an official statement came from the WWE to affirm that the 2026 edition of Summerslam is heading to Minneapolis, Minnesota at the US Bank Stadium, home of the Minnesota Vikings, on August 1 and 2, 2026.

After making WrestleMania a regular two-night event, the other Big-Four PLEs were also under speculations to get broadened and WWE finally approved it. It appears that the TKO-owned company has its own reasons for making this move.
As reported in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the reason behind WWE's decision to turn SummerSlam into a two-night event starting in 2026 is to reflect the bigger and better size of this premiere show that's only next to WrestleMania.
Mostly, WWE conducts the Show of Shows in North America but if it would eventually be converted into an international show from Saudi Arabia or London, then they would have to arrange a make-up show in the United States.
"One aspect of why WWE turned SummerSlam into a two-night event starting in 2026 is that if WWE decides to take WrestleMania international, either Saudi Arabia or London, it will give a similar size event to North America."
Furthermore, bringing SummerSlam to Minnesota could be a strategic move on WWE's part after the state recently lost the bid of hosting WrestleMania 41 after waiting a long time due to TKO's change in plans as they decided to go with Las Vegas.
As for this year's SummerSlam, the show is slated to take place at the Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday, August 3. The next two Big-Four PLEs, Survivor Series and Royal Rumble are yet to be officially announced.
