Superstar Spectacle 2023: Spoiler on John Cena’s opponent at WWE India Live Event

Bengaluru, August 22: WWE Universe in India has been treated with the massive news of John Cena's return to the country for the September 1 extravaganza dubbed as the Superstar Spectacle. The former WWE franchise player will essentially be headlining the show.

There have been initial speculations on Cena's return in a non-physical role for the show given that he's under contract for various Hollywood projects. But the veteran confirmed on social media that he'll be seen in action.

That being said, for the very first time ever in history, the man with "Hustle, Loyalty & Respect" will be seen competing inside the squared circle on Indian soil which should garner tons of attention.

"Cannot wait to reunite with the WWE family live on SmackDown! Especially excited to meet the WWE Universe in India and wrestle for the FIRST TIME EVER in India! The time is NOW.... C U all VERY soon!!!" Cena tweeted.

Smackdown Superstar Grayson Waller saw this tweet and replied with the following, "Make sure you wipe your feet before you visit my house." This is an indication that the newbie is targeting the future Hall of Famer upon return.

During John Cena's last WWE appearance at Money in the Bank 2023, he was confronted by the brass heel of the roster in the United Kingdom. Waller also attacked him only to be getting laid out with an Attitude Adjustment.

By the current looks, WWE is setting up John Cena vs. Grayson Waller for WWE Superstar Spectacle, and that match should be made official on the September 1st episode of SmackDown when Cena actually returns to TV before the India show.

The Cenation Leader competed in one last match at WrestleMania 39, where he lost to Austin Theory in a United States Championship match. Now, he will be up against another promising young talent of the blue brand roster.

During an interview with Busted Open Radio in May, John Cena expressed his wish to stay a full-time wrestler in WWE but that's not possible at the age of 46 as he's doing it for decades.

With Cena's inclusion in WWE Superstar Spectacle in India, it is likely to be a filmed edition, at least in the country. Elsewhere, it might be aired through WWE Network/Peacock much like the 2021 edition of the show from WWE ThunderDome.
