Superstar Spectacle 2023: WWE to crown new tag team champions in India show?

Bengaluru, August 18: Superstar Spectacle 2023 is going to be the next WWE extravaganza especially dedicated to Indian fans within a month from now. Despite initial doubts over ticket selling, the show was sold out like hot cake which must have boosted WWE's confidence.

At this point, WWE's weekly programming is currently building programs for the Payback premium live event that's in store in the first week of next month. Reports indicate that the company could also plan for a big title change targeting their next India show.

As of now Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens hold the Undisputed Tag Team Championships in WWE which they earned by defeating The Usos at Wrestlemania 39 in April. A recent rib injury has sidelined Owens from television.

This was the reason why the tag titles weren't defended at Summerslam. Even Sami Zayn has been spotted on Raw with a swollen elbow that has also ruled him out of action for a few weeks.

With both the champions out of action, there could be a possibility of WWE crowning new tag team titleholders. With Superstar Spectacle coming up, WWE might just choose two Indian Superstars to pick up those belts.

Back in 2017, Jinder Mahal was made the WWE Champion as he could be used to promote that year's WWE India event throughout the year with the most prestigious belt around his shoulder. He eventually also main-evented the show with WWE Legend Triple H.

Similarly targeting Superstar Spectacle 2023, a major swerve could be seen on WWE Raw programming where the team of Indus Sher - Veer Mahaan and Sanga could emerge to be the new tag team champions just so that the two India-natives can grab some headlines.

The two behemoths from the subcontinent had gone through strong booking in WWE in the past. But injuries and improper booking were the main reasons behind their inconsistency in WWE programme.

The title change remains a rumour for the time being as Indus Sher managed by Jinder Mahal is yet to return to WWE TV. The last time they were seen was on NXT for a brief occasion in 2023 spring.

WWE Superstar Spectacle 2023 will take place at the GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium (Gachibowli Indoor Stadium) in Hyderabad, India, on Friday, September 8, 2023, and Indus Sher alongside Shanky are being heavily promoted to appear on the show.
