Survivor Series 2023: Will WarGames return at annual WWE PLE?

Bengaluru, August 14: With Vince McMahon-regime fully in charge of the WWE creative team, the concept of WarGames Match was neglected for the main roster Superstars until it debuted last year on the occasion of Survivor Series.

Triple H is the man responsible to host the popular gimmick match consisting of several Raw and SmackDown Superstars that appeared to be a massive hit. In fact, this has been one of his major successes in the WWE as the Chief Content Officer.

Now that the 2023 edition of Survivor Series is coming within three months, there are speculations over the WWE possibly retaining the WarGames concept for the show and that's also recently been indicated by a reliable source.

Ringside News reached out to know more about WWE's plan for another WarGames Match and they were told by a tenured member of creative that the gimmick is being considered an annual match for Survivor Series.

That being said, the WWE Universe should be hearing up for a big-feel Chicago Fight-type match at the infamous All-State Arena by late November at Survivor Series while no particular participants or matches have been indicated.

From 2016 onward, WWE made Survivor Series a brand war-themed Premium Live Event following the return of the brand extension draft. That concept eventually became dull with no specific reward for the winning brand or the respective winning Superstars.

Then, Triple H took over the WWE creative in 2022 summer and regenerated the attention with the first ever Survivor Series: WarGames premium live event, which was headlined by The Bloodline and Team Brawling Brutes in a WarGames match.

The Bloodline is also being speculated to be a big part of the 2023 WarGames as this should be the night when the leader of the group and the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns returns to action after missing Payback in September and Fastlane in October.

For the time being, WWE has released the initial poster of the 2023 Survivor Series for ticket-selling purposes and it doesn't have the "WarGames" tag attached to it, unlike last year. However, bookings are always subject to change.

Including Survivor Series 2023, WWE has already confirmed almost all the remaining premium live events of this year except for the second Saudi Arabia PLE's name and location. The upcoming WWE PLE schedule is given below:

- WWE Payback (September 2 at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania)

- WWE Fastlane (October 7 at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana)

- WWE Saudi Arabia PLE (November 4, Name & Location TBD)

- WWE Survivor Series (November 25 at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois)

- WWE WrestleMania 40 (April 6-7 from the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania)

- WWE WrestleMania 41 (US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota; Date TBD)
