The Rock vs. Roman Reigns: Dream match possibly pushed back in WWE calendar

In a previous interview with ESPN, The Rock mentioned culminating in the "biggest match of all time at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas," fueling the speculations of the dream match against Roman Reigns.

In changed circumstances, that match could be moved back for one more year as The Final Boss would return to WWE programming to possibly renew his feud with Cody Rhodes, leaving the fight against Roman for another day.

WWE is planning a major extension for the Raw brand through a new deal with Netflix in 2025 that would bring uncensored programming on the OTT platform for the next 10 years starting from January 6.

According to the Wrestling Observer newsletter, The Rock is expected to be part of the launch, with reports suggesting that he should be involved for the first few months of the deal, making him appear throughout the Road to WrestleMania 41 season.

While many believe that The Rock vs. Roman Reigns dream feud will kick off during that phase, Dave Meltzer mentioned on The Observer that this match isn't likely happening until next year's WrestleMania in Indianapolis.

"My gut was Roman vs. Rock for 2026 WrestleMania. It could still be what they do. Solo was there, and Jacob was there to pass the time to get there. Again, when you are talking about stuff that far out, there are a million things that can happen."

Originally, this match was planned to go down at WrestleMania XL, this year but things got postponed as fan backlash erupted after The Rock asked Cody Rhodes to step aside from the main event of the show against Reigns.

Eventually, Rhodes sought his revenge against The Tribal Chief by winning the Undisputed WWE Universal Title from him despite interferences from The Rock and The Bloodline on the Night Two of the biggest WrestleMania of all time.

Then on the Raw after WrestleMania 40, The Rock informed Cody Rhodes that he'll come after him when he returns on TV and that match will likely take place at the next edition of the Show of Shows.
