Title match scrapped from WWE Royal Rumble PPV card

Bengaluru, January 25: The WWE have scrapped a title match from the fight card of this Sunday's Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
After the termination of Enzo Amore's contract, it has proven to be a major headache for the WWE creative team. As reported earlier, the former Cruiserweight Champion was released from the company, due to a sexual harassment allegation which has put the future of the Cruiserweight division in jeopardy. This week’s 205 Live show took place without a champion in their division.
We expected to hear about the future of the title on the show which remains undecided, for now. As per the announcements from last week, a championship match was confirmed to take place at the Royal Rumble PPV. The contender for the Cruiserweight title, Cedric Alexander was set to challenge Enzo Amore in a rematch.
But, this week, the Smackdown general manager, Daniel Bryan made an announcement after Enzo Amore’s release from the WWE, that the championship will remain vacant.
He also added the fate of the belt will be decided by a new general manager of the show, who will be announced, next week and he/she will address the championship picture.
It is quiet clear that the title will not be defended at the first dual-brand PPV of the year. So, the Cruiserweight Championship match was pulled from the match card. This was the second match that was cancelled at the PPV event after the United States Championship match was called off by the Smackdown brand.
As we continued to speculate who would be the new general manager of the 205 Live brand, Enzo Amore released a statement on the social media claiming that he is innocent in the sexual harassment case. His quotes via attorney stated,
“Mr. Arndt (Enzo Amore) fully and unequivocally denies those accusations. He is cooperating with the authorities in this matter and looks forward to having it resolved in a timely manner. Neither Mr. Arndt nor his counsel will be making any further public comments on this matter.”
It was also reported by different sources that the Certified G superstar was present on WWE Raw 25th anniversary at the Barclays Center. However, once the police decided to press charges against the former WWE superstar, Vince McMahon showed him the exit door at the venue.
