“I was told I was never going to wrestle again,” top AEW wrestler Saraya details on WWE exit

Bengaluru, July 17: Being one of the pillar figures of the Divas Revolution aka Women's Evolution, Saraya Jade-Bevis better known as Paige to the WWE Universe always remains under discussion irrespective of her departure from the company.

It's been more than a year since Paige was released from her contract with the WWE which allowed her to reintroduce herself in AEW under her real name of Saraya. Meanwhile, WWE fans still wonder why a gem talent like her was let go in the first place.

While speaking with Kenny McIntosh for Inside The Ropes, Saraya discussed her sudden release from the WWE. She clearly mentioned that WWE didn't want to keep her under payroll given she was medically unfit to wrestle.

At the same time, the first-ever NXT Women's Champion also informed that the current head honcho of the WWE creative team, Triple H had no idea that WWE was not going to renew her contract and release her instead.

Back then, WWE creative used to be run by the pair of Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis who took the decision of releasing her while Triple H was still recovering from surgery in the heart.

Saraya proceeded to mention that the release helped her to rediscover herself in a positive way in a different company. Furthermore, she also claimed to have left the WWE on totally good terms.

"So I'm very, very fortunate in a way where it happened at a time where I have a really good community around me, like my boyfriend, my friends, my family, you know, I have a really good, stable community around me that's always so positive."

"'That's totally fine. You know, I don't wrestle anymore, I don't know what you would have [done with me].' And that's, that's perfectly fine. We left on really good terms, which I appreciate from Vince [McMahon] and Johnny."

After WWE decided not to renew Saraya's contract in July of 2022, she quickly jumped ship to debut in AEW during the Grand Slam edition of Dynamite back in September 2022 at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

In a sudden impact, she started feuding with Britt Baker which eventually led to her in-ring return at the Full Gear PPV event in November. The same feud also turned her into a heel character on AEW TV.

At present, Saraya continues to move forward with the vicious villainous character with fellow WWE alumni - Toni Storm and Ruby Soho by her side as part of The Outcasts faction who claims to be running the AEW Women's Division.
