Update on Rey Mysterio’s status in the WWE

Bengaluru, February 2: A number of surprise returns happened at the 2018 Royal Rumble PPV. There were many returns at the women's Rumble match as they needed to fill up the 30 superstars slot. Plus as earlier anticipated we expected several stars to return in the men's division match as well.

However, that was not the case as some of the NXT superstars made their presence along with a couple of superstars from the past. These names were The Hurricane and Rey Mysterio. The latter one mentioned was obviously the biggest surprise entrant in this year's prestigious battle royal.

Entering at the lucky number of 27, he did a fair job by making it to the last 6 of the match until he was eliminated by Finn Balor. The crowd gave a thunderous reaction to the legendary Masked Luchador as he pleased them with his famous high-flying that only he can bring to the squared circle.

This also raised the question whether we will be seeing more of Rey Mysterio in the upcoming days in the WWE. However, the reports do not suggest that. A report by PWInsider.com gave an update on the former world champion's status in the biggest pro-wrestling promotion of the world.

It suggested that Rey Mysterio appearing at the Royal Rumble match was purely a one-off deal with the company. It was finalized just a week before the prestigious battle royal. The officials kept it under wraps to make it one of the biggest returns of the year 2018. Going forward, he is not likely to be seen on WWE TV.

As you can see, it was also assumed that the kind of reaction that the Master of 619 received, was phenomenal and hence a new deal might happen, sooner. On a fallout video, he also alluded the same saying that it might not be his last appearance in the WWE. If that was any hint then he should skip going to Impact Zone and continue working for his former employer.
