Update on Ronda Rousey’s WWE career post-SummerSlam 2023 season

Bengaluru, August 7: In one of the major bouts scheduled for yesterday's WWE SummerSlam 2023 premium live event, UFC Hall of Famer and former champion in WWE, Ronda Rousey competed against Shayna Baszler in an MMA Rules Match.

Witnessing two bonafide MMA performers inside the squared circle was a unique opportunity for the WWE Universe but they were seemingly less interested in the match as a major portion of SummerSlam attendees used it as their bathroom break.

Eventually, when the match was over Shayna won the match via Technical Submission after she made Ronda pass out to her Kirifuda Clutch. Fans didn't care about the outcome since they knew that Ronda was jobbing to her former bestie.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the SummerSlam match between Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler and noted how this could eventually turn out to be the final WWE contest for the former in WWE.

There was an unannounced rule in the WWE that Ronda could never lose via submission but that rule was broken last night which seemingly indicates that it was time for her to bid adieu to pro wrestling.

"Nobody was allowed to beat Ronda by submission, that was the key. So, she did it, with her best friend, and I mean, in theory it's great for Shayna if they follow up on it, so we'll see."

WWE previously took some big decisions with their top Superstars before their exit and Ronda Rousey is no exception. She is also getting a lot of credit for losing to Shayna Baszler since the latter was handpicked to go over.

This match and the biggest win of Shayna's career would have never happened if Ronda Rousey didn't approve of it. She was always the one to have pitched the women's tag team title run followed by Shayna's betrayal in the first place.

Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful's paywall that The Baddest Woman on the Planet was always "adamant" about establishing Shayna Baszler in a better place following their feud. Now it's up to WWE whether they utilize Shayna in a better way.

Meanwhile, Fightful also noted that Ronda Rousey is set for a hiatus, "As mentioned last night, Ronda Rousey had been adamant that she wanted to team with Shayna Baszler, then put her over before taking time off."
