WrestleMania 39: Hell in a Cell Match officially set; WWE Legend turns down challenge

Bengaluru, March 14: The Rated R Superstar and The Prince are all set to put an end to their year-long venomous rivalry at WrestleMania 39 inside the most dangerous steel cage structure in WWE history - Hell in a Cell!

Edge kicked off this week's Raw from the Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence, Rhode Island, and challenged Bálor to a rematch at the Show of Shows, this time inside the unforgiving cage known as the Hell in a Cell.

Balor had not only agreed to the proposal to make the match official but via the below comments, he also teased bringing back "The Demon" gimmick at WrestleMania 39.

"Edge I've been to hell before, and it spit me out, because hell couldn't handle my demons. I'll see you at WrestleMania."

We haven't seen Balor's Demon persona since Extreme Rules 2021 premium live event. On that night, Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns put an end to the character's undefeated streak by pinning him clean in the middle of the ring.

Time will tell whether The Demon will be Edge's next victim as he's no stranger to Hell in a Cell. The WWE Hall of Famer boasts a victory against Seth "Freakin" Rollins at Crown Jewel 2021 and a hard-fought loss against The Undertaker in SummerSlam 2008, both under this stipulation.

It should be noted that since getting ousted from his own Judgment Day faction, Edge had defeated each male member (Dominik Mysterio and Damian Priest) in singles contests except for Balor despite squaring off at Extreme Rules.

Back at that October WWE PLE, Balor alongside his cohorts forced Edge to say "I Quit" before Ripley took his wife Beth Phoenix out of commission with a Con-Chair-To. Later, Edge and Beth defeated Balor and Ripley in a mixed tag match at Elimination Chamber.

Another legend Rey Mysterio was in attendance at the March 13 episode of Raw to get appreciation from the fans due to his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame. Obviously, Dominik Mysterio was quick to interrupt.

Rey's son talked about how bad of a father Rey was while bringing him up. Dominik then challenged Rey to a match at WrestleMania 39 but Rey turned down the offer since he won't fight his own flesh-and-blood.

As Rey walked out of the ring, Dominik insulted Rey by saying that the only thing his father ever taught him was what not to be in life. At this stage, Rey vs. Dominik is reportedly scheduled for next month's PLE and it's only a matter of time before the match becomes official.

WWE WrestleMania 39 Premium Live Event takes place Saturday and Sunday, April 1 and 2 at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The current match card for the show is given below:
