WrestleMania 39: John Cena set for mega record; Celebrity star to compete in final match?

Bengaluru, March 30: After a three-year-long hiatus, John Cena is returning to WrestleMania, an event that he headlined on six different occasions. His addition to the match card had significantly boosted things.

In its Hollywood edition, the former franchise figure of the WWE will go after the United States Championship held by Austin Theory in a much-anticipated match that's been in the pipeline for almost a year. It also presents the challenger with a record-setting opportunity.

Back at Royal Rumble 2017, John Cena defeated AJ Styles to become a 16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, tying legendary Ric Flair's record of having 16 World Champions reigns (combined in WWE, WCW, and beyond).

Now, at WrestleMania 39, this Saturday night Cena goes after United States Championship in the opening match of the show. A win for him will allow him to tie in Flair regarding the mid-card title reign.

Flair holds the record of becoming the United States Champion for the maximum number of occasions which are 6. Cena currently has 5 US Title reigns and if he somehow defeats Theory, then he'll equal another title record held by The Nature Boy.

Given that Cena is a part-time competitor in the WWE, a win isn't predicted as he is probably scheduled to put over Theory by digesting a loss and then go back to his filming schedule. However, WrestleMania is a place where we can always 'expect the unexpected.'

A recent report by Sean Ross Sapp behind Fightful's paywall highlighted the return of Vince McMahon to the company who could also be involved in the creative process due to the increase in last-minute rewrites and adjustments.

Since McMahon particularly favors John Cena (who won six world title matches at WrestleMania under McMahon-regime), we just can't rule out a shocking outcome to the US Title match set for WrestleMania 39.

Speaking of the biggest premium live event of the year, Logan Paul will face Seth Rollins in a first-time-ever match, this Saturday, on his 28th birthday.

As much as it looks surprising, this outing could mark Logan's last match in WWE, at least for a while because his contractual obligation with the company comes to an end after this weekend's show.

Here is what Logan had to say on his WWE tenure on the Impaulsive Podcast: "My contract ends this WrestleMania. My rookie year is about to be up. A good rookie year."

His co-hosts mentioned a possible contract renewal if WWE offers a "Lele Pons money" (who claimed that WWE offered her $20 million), Logan said that WWE Officials won't offer him or any other talent that much money.

"They reached out to me and were like, 'FYI, we did not offer Lele Pons $20 million.' I knew that, I didn't think anyone would take it serious."

Logan Paul first appeared at WrestleMania in 2021 as a ringside guest for the match between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. His four in-ring performances after that appearance, are given below:

- WrestleMania 38: Logan Paul & The Miz defeated Dominik & Rey Mysterio in a tag team match

- SummerSlam 2022: Logan Paul defeated The Miz

- Crown Jewel 2022: Roman Reigns (c) defeated Logan Paul to retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship

- Royal Rumble 2023: Logan Paul entered the Men's Royal Rumble match, and eliminated Seth Rollins to begin the WrestleMania feud before getting eliminated by Cody Rhodes
