Wrestlemania 39: WWE finally confirms Ronda Rousey’s match for April PLE

After weeks of back-and-forth speculations, Ronda Rousey’s status for Wrestlemania 39 has been confirmed by the WWE. Interestingly, it came just a night after reports claimed that she was ruled out of the event due to an injury.

Last week on WWE SmackDown, it was announced that separate WrestleMania Showcase tag team matches from both men's and women's divisions will go down in fatal-4-way capacity.

Ronda Rousey returned on Smackdown

Shortly after that announcement from SmackDown commentators Wade Barrett, Liv Morgan, and Raquel Rodriguez became the first team to qualify for the match by defeating Tegan Nox and Emma.

Then on last night’s Smackdown, Natalya and Shotzi emerged as the second team to qualify by defeating Xia Li and Lacey Evans. After connecting with the Hart Attack, Nattie made Li tap out to the Sharpshooter submission.

Soon after the win, Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey came out to confront Natalya-Shotzi as well as Morgan-Rodriguez. "The Baddest Woman on the Planet" decided to take a shot at their familiar audience from Las Vegas, Nevada, and denied performing in front of them,

"We've already given Vegas more than they deserve. Not again. Not tonight." [referring to their UFC stint]. Afterwards, Baszler noted that they attended Smackdown to give the news that WWE added them to the fatal-4-way match lineup as the third pair, leaving only one final spot in the fray.

WWE commentator Michael Cole then stated that the fourth and final team will be declared, next week. If rumours are to be believed then Carmella and Chelsea Green from Monday Night Raw should capture the only remaining spot.

Coming back to Ronda Rousey, she shared a post on Instagram, heading into Smackdown to inform that she fractured her elbow by simply slapping the mat in Rockford, Illinois during a training session which may cost her the appearance at the Show of Shows.

However, doctors later cleared the top female superstar in time for the biggest premium live event of the year. She would now be a part of the multi-woman tag match that would possibly determine the next challengers for women’s tag team titles.

WWE originally planned Ronda Rousey vs. Rhea Ripley for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 39 when Ronda had the belt in possession. But she dropped the title to Charlotte Flair to change the lineup.

Rousey & Shayna Baszler were then scheduled to go after Dakota Kai & IYO SKY of DAMAGE CTRL for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships but Becky Lynch & WWE Hall of Famer Lita captured those titles.

In another changed lineup, WWE wanted Rousey & Baszler to go after Lynch & Lita for the titles. But Rousey got injured and the company went with Lynch, Lita, & Stratus against DAMAGE CTRL (Bayley, Kai & SKY) in a six-man tag match lineup at WrestleMania 39.
