WrestleMania 40: CM Punk To Miss WWE PLE Due To Injury

CM Punk was this close to winning this year's Men's Royal Rumble match but he eventually ended up being the runner-up. While being unsuccessful at chasing his dreams, he also picked up an injury that shattered his WrestleMania dreams.

The former WWE Champion came out on this week's Raw with his right arm being in a sling. Punk looked disappointingly at the WrestleMania 40 sign before congratulating Cody Rhodes who got another chance to "finish his story."

After a little bit of talking about his WrestleMania dreams, the sober announcement was made that he tore his right tricep during Saturday's Royal Rumble match, and that will force him to miss Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania 40.

As CM Punk hoped for the next time, Drew McIntyre came out and talked about his dreams being taken away from him as well after he got fired from WWE. He was also eliminated by Punk at The Rumble.

McIntyre then said he prayed for Punk's injury and it eventually happened. But now, it will be him fulfilling Punk's dream of main-event WrestleMania as he's going to win the World Heavyweight Championship.

In return, Punk informed that he will main-event WrestleMania when he comes back and he will also go after Drew soon after his return from this injury. McIntyre then attacked Punk, targeting his injured arm, but Sami Zayn made the save.

Originally, CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship was the plan for WrestleMania 40 but things are unclear at this point who will fill in for Punk in that co-main-event for the Show of Shows.

Meanwhile, reports of Punk's injury were out courtesy of Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline. While the exact nature of the injury was unconfirmed by WWE officials, he was diagnosed by doctors upon arriving on Raw after which the WrestleMania removal decision was made.
