WrestleMania 40 has been the talk of the town in wrestling circles since the legend The Rock returned to WWE at the start of the year, and after the completion of Royal Rumble 2024, where Cody Rhodes won the men's rumble match.
While Rhodes kept the WWE Universe waiting, The Rock's teaser on January 8th Raw had set up an anticipated match with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. The potential main event wasn't taken well amongst the fans and experts, leading WWE to host a kick off show.

At the kick off show, Cody Rhodes, who had earned his right to challenge the Undisputed Universal Champion or the World Heavyweight Champion, picked Roman Reigns over Seth Rollins, confirming the main event of WrestleMania 40.
This eventually pushed out The Rock from the main event scene, but WWE could still use him in different capacity or even add him in the Undisputed Universal Championship match by making it a triple threat affair.
However, that may not be fair on someone like Rhodes, who had to win the Royal Rumble to earn his shot at main eventing WrestleMania 40, which is scheduled to take place on April 6 and 7 at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
So, if it's not the Universal Title match against Reigns at WrestleMania. Can WWE set up a Roman Reigns vs The Rock match in another event other than WrestleMania?
According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, The Rock has preferred to do the dream match against Roman Reigns only at WrestleMania, shooting down plans of a match at any other event, including the ones in Saudi Arabia.
Then, how will the WWE use The Rock at the WrestleMania? And is there a chance of a Roman Reigns vs The Rock match still possible at the Show of Shows?
With WrestleMania 40 being a two-day affair, WWE could easily set up the Rock vs Roman Reigns as one of the main events on either night one or night two depending how they want the Rhodes vs Reigns match to end.
There are plenty of options for WWE if they wish to book the Rock in a match or in a non-wrestling capacity or in a match against one of his old rivals from the Attitude Era, for which seeds were planted during the WrestleMania kick off show.
This is one easy way to solve the current dilemma, but won't go down well with the fans, especially with The Rock taking sides with his cousin Roman Reigns after weeks of teasing a fight against him. Also, the Rumble winner Rhodes may not get a fair shot.
So, if WWE will take the triple threat route will be clear after the upcoming SmackDown, where the Rock and Roman Reigns have been advertised to appear, possibly planting seeds for another angle.
The tag team option could be another one up the sleeves of the WWE should they want to use it, but that may not wait until the WrestleMania, and may happen even in the upcoming SmackDown.
Rollins is also in the mix, having shared the stage with the trio in Las Vegas last week, where another possible angle was teased when Rock warned one of his former rivals Triple H to keep Rhodes in check.
Rolling back the years, WWE could set up one of the biggest draws during the Attitue Era which saw The Rock and Triple H feud for the title for months. However, this angle was dismissed after Dave Meltzer heard that WWE is not planning to book The Rock vs. Triple H at WrestleMania 40, despite tension building between them on television.
A longshot as it all depends on if WWE want to end the long title reign of Roman Reigns on night one against Cody Rhodes, who will then drop the title on night two to the Rock. However, the chance for this to happen is very slim.
WWE could also book Cody Rhodes vs The Rock for a number one contender's spot or could even bring the stipulation of a special enforcer or a guest referee into play. All this and more will get clearer after SmackDown on February 17.
If WWE want to build on the hype of Roman Reigns they will look to continue the unbeaten reign of the champion and what better way to do that then making him defend the title on night one against Reigns and then on night two against The Rock.
