WrestleMania 40: Three top matches revealed for biggest 2024 WWE PLE

The biggest event in sports entertainment in 2024 will be WrestleMania 40 and this one will take place under the new TKO management of the WWE. For the first time in its history, the McMahons won't solely be in charge of things for the spectacle.

WrestleMania 40 will go down at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on April 6th and 7th of this year, marking the show of shows for the first time in 25 years from the City of Brotherly Love.

Fans gathering in the city can expect to witness some earth-shattering showdowns featuring top WWE Superstars and the potential main event should feature a rematch from last year between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes.

Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that WWE had four matches penciled in to go down for WrestleMania 40 out of which one would be canceled since Charlotte Flair is out of action due to an injury. The other three matches are given below:

• Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Match: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Cody Rhodes
• Women's World Championship Match: Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Becky Lynch
• Brother vs. Brother: Jey Uso vs. Jimmy Uso

Despite The Rock's return, recent reports suggested that Roman Reigns was always planned to go into WrestleMania 40 to square off in a match against Cody Rhodes, picking things up from last year.

A tease of things to come was shown during the season premiere of Smackdown on FOX when Roman Reigns returned from his summer hiatus and Cody Rhodes confronted him on the ramp.

The side angle between Jimmy and Jey Uso was formed out of the Reigns-Rhodes saga throughout 2023. Jimmy came up with the ultimate betrayal when he stopped his flesh-and-blood from winning the undisputed title at Summerslam.

Jimmy also cost Jey the undisputed tag titles while Jey invaded Smackdown to attack him out of nowhere. The two were thereby separated into two different brands just so a big match could be planned between them at WrestleMania 40.

The two top female WWE Stars on the Raw brand are Rhea Ripley and Becky Lynch and letting these two square off on the biggest stage comes as a no-brainer. This is the only reason the two have also been separated, thus far.

As for Charlotte Flair, she was scheduled to face Jade Cargill in a dream bout at WrestleMania 40 but now Flair is out of action for nine long months following a surgery that's performed to fix a torn ACL.
