WWE Backlash 2023: New Title Match & Street Fight announced featuring Bad Bunny

An eventful night of Monday Night Raw was in store, this week which added two new matches to Backlash 2023 pay-per-view event. Additionally, the WWE roster also received a new World Heavyweight Championship to be crowned at Night of Champions.

But prior to that late May event, another international event in the form of Backlash would be hosted where the fate of the Raw Women’s Championship held by Bianca Belair is to be decided.

WWE's Twitter account informed us about the match where IYO SKY will finally get her due title shot against Bianca Belair for the Raw Women's Championship at Backlash. This will be a first-ever-time match on WWE programming.

The Genius of the Sky earned this title match opportunity against The EST of WWE, earlier this month by winning a number-one contender's Triple Threat Match. Originally, Damage CTRL leader Bayley was scheduled to enter that match.

But SKY talked her way into the match and got into the title match which makes the fans believe that eventually, Bayley will turn on SKY to put an end to Damage CTRL.

WWE Smackdown Women's Champion Rhea Ripley will also put her title on the line at Backlash against Latino World Order member and the inaugural Queen's Crown winner Zelina Vega as confirmed this past Friday night.

In a major attraction for Backlash, megastar Bad Bunny has been booked to perform in a match. The host of the event appeared on Raw, this week to continue the ongoing storyline against Judgment Day to set up the match.

Bunny made it very clear that he is far from finished with Damian Priest after receiving a beatdown from him on Raw, a few weeks ago. So he showed up to save Rey Mysterio from getting destroyed by Priest.

Originally, Rey Mysterio battled Damian Priest in the main event match of Raw which ended in DQ after Priest whacked Rey on the back with a chair. Priest also put Rey through the announce table with the South Of Heaven.

Bad Bunny came out, at this point, with a kendo stick in his hand and delivered a beating on Priest with it. The two fought on the announce table and Bunny stood tall after taking a kendo stick shot at Priest's legs.

Afterwards, the rapper grabbed a microphone and announced that he was willing to leave Backlash PPV hosting duties in order to compete in a Street Fight against Damian Priest. The match was officially announced later by the WWE.

Due to the initial angle on Raw, a tag team match was rumoured where Rey Mysterio and Bad Bunny were supposed to take on Damian Priest and Dominik Mysterio. But ultimately, WWE converted this to a singles contest.
