WWE Backlash 2023 PLE date and location announced alongside celebrity host

Bengaluru, March 9: WWE's recent spree of bringing more international Premium Live Events to the fans, continues with the confirmation of Backlash 2023 edition which is heading to Puerto Rico with a native star power assigned to be the host.
Celebrity Rapper and Puerto Rico's own, Bad Bunny to present the 2023 WWE Backlash premium live event as confirmed by the WWE in a statement on their official website as well as on their social media page.
On Saturday, May 6, Backlash will emanate from the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This will mark the first premium live event under the WWE banner in the post-WrestleMania 39 season.
WWE is seemingly elated to attach a two-time GRAMMY award-winning and global recording artist Bad Bunny to the event as it will garner major mainstream attention. Apart from being the host of the night, the celebrity may also end up featuring in a match.
"In 2005 when I was a kid, I wasn't able to attend New Year's Revolution at el Coliseo," said Bad Bunny in a statement regarding his new role in the WWE. "Finally, 18 years later WWE returns to the island with a massive event and this time I won't miss it."
WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque also expressed his excitement regarding Backlash being announced from outside the USA territory.
"We're excited to bring Backlash to San Juan as the demand for WWE premium live events outside of the continental United States continues to grow. Bad Bunny is one of the world's most-popular entertainers and nowhere is that more evident than in his native Puerto Rico."
WWE Backlash 2023 is the first WWE pay-per-view/ premium live event to take place in Puerto Rico since January 2005. 18 years ago, for the first-time-ever, a WWE Network Specials took place in the form of New Year's Revolution at the Latin American zone, a night that was headlined by an Elimination Chamber match.
With Bad Bunny coming around for Backlash, the Puerto Ricans will have an additional reason to get excited. Before this, the lifelong fan of WWE first appeared in WWE in January 2021 at the Royal Rumble in a special musical performance.
Moving on, the multi-platform record artist participated in a tag team match at WrestleMania 37 in April, where he teamed up with Damian Priest to pick up his maiden win the WWE against The Miz and John Morrison. Bunny also returned to participate in the 2022 Men's Royal Rumble match where Brock Lesnar victimized him.
WWE Backlash 2023 is the second PLE announcement of this week as WWE also confirmed King & Queen of the Ring on Raw which is scheduled to go down from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the first Saudi outing for the WWE, this year.
It appears WWE King & Queen of the Ring will be the second premium live event in May after which London, England will be WWE's next destination for another international outing for the 2023 edition of Money in the Bank on July 1 at the renowned O2 Arena.
