WWE Backlash France: Three new matches announced for May PLE

With almost a week remaining for WWE Backlash France, the match card of the international event received a major boost on this week's SmackDown as three new matches have been added to it.

Former WWE Women's Champion Bianca Belair was the first overall draft pick for SmackDown, and following her selection, Kayla Braxton spoke with her when Belair herself informed that she would be in a championship match at Backlash.

It was announced that The Kabuki Warriors - Asuka and Kairi Sane will defend their WWE Women's Tag Team Championship against Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill at the PLE. The Kabuki Warriors interrupted but Cargill came out to even the odds.

As the women were having words Kevin Owens and Tama Tonga came out exchanging blows. It seemed like they were in the middle of a brawl that originally started in the backstage area.

Solo Sikoa joined the beatdown with Tonga against Owens until Randy Orton came out to make the save. Afterward, Teddy Long announced that Randy Orton and Kevin Owens would take on The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa & Tama Tonga) in a tag team match at Backlash.

Later on SmackDown, Naomi vs. Tiffany Stratton took place as a number-one contender's match for the WWE Women's Championship. That match ended in a DQ after interference from SmackDown selection Nia Jax.

Jax took out the two match participants before attacking WWE Women's Champion Bayley who was on commentary. As a result, a triple-threat title match was announced for Backlash with Bayley defending against Naomi and Stratton.

WWE Backlash France 2024 premium live event takes place at the LDLC Arena in Décines-Charpieu, Lyon, France, next Saturday night on May 4. The currently confirmed match card for the PLE following this week's SmackDown goes as follows:

• Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes defends against AJ Styles
• World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest defends against Jey Uso
• Women's Tag Team Champions Asuka & Kairi Sane defend against Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill
• WWE Women's Champion Bayley defends against Naomi & Tiffany Stratton in a triple threat
• The Bloodline's Solo Sikoa & Tama Tonga vs. Kevin Owens & Randy Orton
