Bengaluru, April 29: The yearly shakeup process of the WWE roster began on this week's Smackdown via the 2023 edition of Draft. WWE's Chief Content Officer Triple H kicked off things by announcing the first-round Draft picks.
Overall, 16 picks were made, 8 each from Raw and Smackdown over three more rounds respectively hosted by WWE Hall of Famers Rob Van Dam & Michal Hayes, JBL & Teddy Long, and D-Generation X members Shawn Michaels & Road Dogg.

While WWE Universe was elated to have these legends onboard, they gave huge pops to three Superstars drafted from NXT and interestingly, all of those names are current champions. The overall list of draftees is given below.
Pick 1 (SmackDown): Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa & Paul Heyman of The Bloodline.

Nothing in particular was announced regarding these undrafted names but they are likely to be assigned to their new brands during the upcoming episode of Smackdown LowDown on YouTube set for tonight.
The drafted NXT Superstars were reportedly present, backstage on Smackdown as NXT women's tag champs, Fyre and Dawn show up on TV to set up their next title defense against Katana Chance and Kayden Carter on this coming edition of NXT.
Another mentionable segment from the Draft was AJ Styles' return on WWE TV after getting injured in December of last year. With The OC members by his side, AJ took out The Viking Raiders & Valhalla to make a triumphant comeback.
Starting from the May 8 episode of Raw, AJ and the confirmed draftees will start on their respective brands on their assigned roster. Meanwhile, the 2023 WWE Draft will continue and wrap up on the May 2 Raw episode from the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
