Jey Uso officially returned to The Bloodline on this week’s Smackdown main event segment to explain his volatile actions for the past several weeks.
A Fatal-5-Way was in store to determine the new challenger for the Intercontinental Title. Rey and Dominik Mysterio came face-to-face, once again while Smackdown Women’s Champion was also in action in a non-title match.
Check out the recap and results from the March 10 episode of Friday Night Smackdown that took place at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania:
– SmackDown opened with The Usos arriving at the arena, together. Paul Heyman welcomed them and he said that both he and Roman were proud of Jey Uso. Jey then told Kayla Braxton that he’ll appear in the ring later that night.
– The Fatal-5-Way Intercontinental Championship Qualifier Match with the lineup: Drew McIntyre vs. Sheamus vs. Karrion Kross (with Scarlett) vs. LA Knight vs. Xavier Woods ended without any proper conclusion.
The finishing sequence saw Drew McIntyre pinning Xavier Woods and Sheamus pinning LA Knight at the same time. With both Sheamus and McIntyre claiming the win, fans were chanting for a Triple Threat but the referees didn’t make any decision.
– In a backstage interview with Kayla Braxton, Paul Heyman went into a rant about Roman Reigns’ Wrestlemania opponent, Cody Rhodes.
– Rey Mysterio was announced to be the first Inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2023.
Rey then came to the ring for an appreciation segment but he was interrupted by his son, Dominik Mysterio, and Judgment Day members. Dominik wasn’t happy with the announcement.
He was admittedly ashamed of being Rey’s son. This led to Santos Escobar coming out with Legado del Fantasma, leading to a multi-person matchup.
– Judgment Day (Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor, and Damian Priest with Rhea Ripley) defeated Legado Del Fantasma (Santos Escobar, Joaquin Wilde, and Cruz Del Toro with Zelina Vega) in a six-man tag match.
Rhea Ripley took out Zelina Vega outside the ring during the match. Priest took advantage of the distraction and delivered a kick to Del Toro's head, allowing Dominik to secure the pin-fall win.
After the match, Dominik spoke to his dad one-on-one and begged for a fight. Dominik went to attack him, but Rey dodged and sent Dominik out of the ring.
– In a backstage segment with GUNTHER, Adam Pearce announced Drew McIntyre vs. Sheamus for next week’s SmackDown, with the winner going after the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 39.
– SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair defeated Shotzi with the Figure Eight Leg Lock submission. After the match, Rhea Ripley came out to confront Flair. The two had a verbal encounter before leaving.
– The Usos came out in the main event segment of Smackdown. Jey Uso said in a promo that he ultimately chose to go with Roman Reigns as he is his blood. Jey then said that Sami Zayn is selfish.
Jimmy Uso then said that only one problem is left now and that’s Cody Rhodes. Cody then came out and he wanted to fight The Usos.
Sami entered the ring from behind to cause a brawl. The show ended with Cody and Sami taking The Usos out of the ring with a pair of clotheslines.
