WWE Great American Bash 2023: Spoiler on two Title Matches from NXT

Bengaluru, July 14: After a long wait of more than 14 years, WWE is bringing back the Great American Bash on pay-per-view TV later this month as a WWE Network Specials under the NXT brand's banner.

Two top championship matches have been confirmed for the upcoming night where Ilja Dragunov will challenge Carmelo Hayes for the NXT Championship and Mustafa Ali will go after Wes Lee over the NXT North American Title.

It now appears that NXT Women's Championship will expectedly be on the line at Great American Bash 2023. During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained that NXT is planning on doing a rematch in this capacity.

NXT's youngest star Thea Hail missed her first opportunity to win the title, two weeks ago but per Meltzer, she's set for another shot at the title, "Thea Hale and Stratton I think is going to be at the Great American Bash."

On the June 6 episode of NXT, Thea Hail won a number-one contender's battle royal to get her first shot at the NXT Women's Championship. That match went down at NXT Gold Rush where she failed to capitalize thanks to ringside shenanigans.

During this week's NXT, the 19-year-old Hail was crystal clear on getting a rematch and that's what she'd get at NXT Great American Bash, two weeks from now. There's no word on how the rematch would be set up.

It was back in late May at NXT Battleground that Tiffany Stratton defeated Lyra Valkyria in the finals of a tournament to become the new NXT Women's Champion. The title win came in just the 26th televised match of her NXT career.

Before the finale of the tournament, Stratton also defeated former champion Roxanne Perez, along with former Toxic Attraction member and former WWE NXT Women's Tag Team Champion Gigi Dolin to solidify her status as a singles power.

At NXT Gold Rush, Stratton went through her first successful TV title defense against Hail. Now, a rematch against the up-and-coming talent of NXT is reportedly in the pipeline for the champion at the Great American Bash.

Speaking of the WWE premium live event, the NXT Tag Team Championships will also be on the line where the recently convicted Tony D'Angelo will return to in-ring competition with his long-time tag team partner.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer also informed that Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo and his master Tony D'Angelo will battle Gallus - Wolfgang and Joe Coffey for the NXT Tag Team Titles at the next NXT pay-per-view event.

Both these two title matches are shortly expected to be announced on NXT TV as Great American Bash 2023 emanates from the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park in Cedar Park, Texas on Sunday, July 30, 2023.
